What is COVID-19?
COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) is a disease caused by a virus named SARS-CoV-2. It can be very contagious and spreads quickly. Over one million people have died from COVID-19 in the United States.
COVID-19 most often causes respiratory symptoms that can feel much like a cold, the flu, or pneumonia. COVID-19 may attack more than your lungs and respiratory system. Other parts of your body may also be affected by the disease. Most people with COVID-19 have mild symptoms, but some people become severely ill. SOURCE: CDC
How can I protect myself from COVID-19?
- Get the updated COVID-19 vaccine.
- Wear a properly fitted mask when in crowded or poorly ventilated areas.
- Choose open, well-ventilated spaces over closed ones. Open a window if indoors.
- Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or clean them with alcohol-based hand rub.
- Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
- If you feel unwell, test for covid, stay home and self-isolate.
How can I get a COVID-19 vaccine?
September 12, 2023 – Following FDA regulatory action, the CDC has recommended updated 2023-2024 mRNA COVID-19 vaccines for everyone 6 months and older that target the omicron subvariant XBB.1.5. - New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
